Project Info
- Title
- Upper Atherton Channel Stabilization Project
- Description
- The proposed activities consists of constructing three adjustable stop-log weirs to create aquatic pool habitat and to enhance existing in-stream pool habitat, repairing a recent bank failure that is threatening infrastructure on a residential property, and placing woody debris/rock fascines in three locations to provide protection on the banks that have undercut large heritage oak trees. Excavation will be done by hand using a jackhammer, picks and shovels. The scarp repair will include reconstructing a stable creek bank by keying in a stabilized reinforced soil embankment with coir-type woven blankets and vegetation. Atherton Creek will be dewatered to allow for construction of the scarp repair, channel reconstruction and the three weirs. The project is located along a 1200 foot reach of Atherton Channel, 0.5 miles northeast of Highway 280 from the Reservoir Road and Walsh Road crossing, in the County of San Mateo, State of California. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2010-0185-R3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, the Town of Atherton.
