Document Description
CCWD proposes to perform slope repairs to 25 landslides that occurred along the Contra Costa Canal as a result of the severe winter storms of January 2023. As an immediate emergency protective measure after the storms, these slide areas were temporarily protected by placing a layer of plastic sheeting (Visqueen) secured by sandbags that were staked into the ground. The permanent repairs will consist of removing and disposing of the Visqueen and sandbags, excavating the disturbed areas back to stable soil, then filling the excavated areas with rock slope protection (RSP) at a maximum depth of approximately 3 feet. Sections of canal lining fencing that have been damaged at these landslide sites will also be replaced.
