Document Description
Pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1652, the California Department of Fish and
Wildlife has approved the Camp San Luis Obispo Drainage Rehabilitation Project submitted by the California Military Department, Camp San Luis Obispo Environmental Department. Implementation of the Project will require the removal of one five-inch diameter at breast height coast live oak tree (Quercus agrifolia) and a 36-inch and a 52-inch eucalyptus (Eucalyptus sp.) stump. Two existing channel features will receive treatment; a 0.02-acre headcut feature that is 100-foot-long by 6-foot-wide with 5-foot-tall banks, and an existing 0.02-acre drainage channel downstream of the headcut feature, 300-foott long by 3-fooft-wide and up to 3-foot deep. Treatment includes the grading, recontour, or filling of each feature to a 2:1 or 3:1 side slope to establish a meandering bioswale. Approximately 120 cubic yards of rock will be installed in the bed of the bioswale to stabilize soils. A 6-foot-long by 24-inch diameter high-density polyethylene pipe culvert will be installed under an
existing sewer line to allow unimpeded flow. Spoils will be transported to a 0.3-acre stockpile area approximately 1.5 miles east of the Project site. The Project site will be revegetated with approximately 974 native trees, shrubs, and grasses, including arroyo willow (Salix lasiolepis), ceanothus (Ceanothus spp.), and California brome (Bromus carinatus).
