The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), pursuant to authority granted under California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 4.5, Chapter 20, Section 66270.61, has issued an Emergency Permit to Abbott Diabetes Care, (EPA ID# CAR000059238) to treat hazardous waste through controlled reactions with chemical solutions. Specifically, two 1-liter containers and one 100-milliliter container of 2-methyltetrahydrofuran and two 100-milliliter containers of tetrahydrofuran must be stabilized prior to transport to an authorized hazardous wastes treatment, storage, and disposal facility.
