Document Description
The California Department of Transpiration (Caltrans) is undergoing emergency work on highway 1 at Post Mile (PM) 1 - 42 pertaining to damage caused by a series of winter storms that brought record-breaking rain and winds to the area. On January 4, 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom proclaimed a State of Emergency to support the ongoing response to the recent winter storms throughout California. A Director’s Order was issued for this storm clean up on 1/11/2023. The scope of work includes tree removal, debris cleanup, removal of slide material, traffic control, erosion control and, as needed, in-kind repair of damaged facilities including guardrail, signs, fencing etc. Work began immediately after the storm damage in early January and should be concluded around 05/18/2023. This project is needed immediately to prevent and mitigate the loss or impairment of life health property and essential services. The purpose of this project is to keep the roadways safely open to the public and repair the location to pre storm damage conditions. All proposed work is within Caltrans ROW.
