Document Description
Objectives: To reduce hazardous roadside fuels profiles within the wildland and wildland urban interface areas in the state responsibility area of the Red Bluff community, while maintaining safe evacuation routes during potential emergencies. Treatment Methods: This project will be accomplished using CALFIRE engine companies and/or fire crews who will use fire apparatus, hand tools and firing techniques to burn annual grasses using drip torches while maintaining control of fire through the use of wet lines and natural barriers to keep fire within the ROW. Location: A 1.54-acre section in the CAL TRANS ROW on the south side of Highway 36E starting from post mile marker 45 and ending at the intersection of Stice Road and Highway 36E. Timing: Work is subject to weather but should take place in late spring of 2023 after the grasses have cured. Work is scheduled to take two days and will occur during the overnight hours to reduce any disruption to normal traffic patterns. Once established, the project will require maintenance annually by reburning the grass as needed.
