Document Description
Caltrans District 9 is proposing a pavement maintenance project in Kern County. The
purpose of this project is to restore the pavement to a serviceable condition that will
extend the pavement life and reduce Maintenance costs. A 0.15’ thin blanket of RHMA
(Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt) will be placed from edge of pavement (EP) to EP, with
wheel track and full lane width digouts to repair areas of failed pavement. Shoulder
backing will be placed up to 3' from the EP. Thermo plastic stripe and markings will be
removed and replaced. Conform grinds will be performed at paving limits, road
intersections, and a paved apron. All work and staging will occur within the existing
operational right of way with no new construction.
