Document Description
DWR staff will perform hand augering up to 40 sites at both Dyer and Patterson Reservoirs. Staff will use hand tools to excavate up to 24 inches deep spaced out about 100 feet along varying transects of the dam faces. A nuclear density probe will be used at the same locations. Grab samples will be taken off site for analysis. Soil cuttings will be back filled into holes by hand. To the extent possible, staging will be on established roadways and improved lots. All work is within DWR right of way.

Reasons for Exemption
The State Water Project provides significant and important services to many Californians. This project is exempt because it involves data collection activities for a safe water supply. This project will not result in impacts to special status species or habitat. Because this activity can be implemented without any significant environmental impacts, the Categorical Exemption Class 6 will be used for CEQA compliance.
