Document Description
The University Airport Runway and Lighting Improvements project reconstructs and widens the runway from 50 to 60 feet, replaces existing asphalt and subgrade with new asphalt and subgrade materials, installs new lighting and navigational aids, stabilizes the Runway Safety Area, adds blast pads (concrete areas at end of both runways to absorb engine blast), and rehabilitates existing taxiway exits to address safety concerns and to conform with new runway grades. The current runway length is 3,176 feet and there are no plans to lengthen. The project will bring the airport into compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards and address safety issues.
