Document Description
The funding to begin the Project’s planning was provided through California Department of Fish and Wildlife's (CDFW's) Proposition 1 Watershed Restoration Program. The restoration site is located in Imperial County on the Finney Ramer Management Units (FRMU) of the Imperial Wildlife Area (IWA). The IWA has been owned and managed by CDFW since 1951. The Project involves restoring up to 1,500 acres of FRMU from non-native vegetation to native habitat, including but not limited to desert scrub and riparian woodland. Project activities will consist of installing a drip, sprinkler, or flood irrigation system, removing dense stands of salt cedar (Tamarisk spp.) and planting native vegetation. Ground disturbance activities will be limited to planting potted stock (up to 1-gallon pots), cuttings from various tree species, burying drip irrigation lines, and salt cedar stump removal.
