Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration
Agreement number 1600-2020-0253-R1, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to WESTERN
SHASTA RESOURCE CONSERVATION DISTRICT.
The project will remove the abandoned Bella Vista Water District siphon structure in North Cow Creek, which acts
as a barrier to migrating aquatic species including Chinook salmon and steelhead. The concrete structure will be
removed and disposed of off-site and the stream bed will be re-contoured to allow immediate fish passage for all
life-stages offish upon completion of the project. The project will be implemented during the late summer when
flows are lowest and all stream flow will be piped around the project area to conduct in-stream work. The purpose
is to benefit fisheries habitat in North Cow Creek.
