CalFire will perform the controlled burns on approximately 250 acres of grassland around the Thermalito Forebay. These controlled burns are a way for DWR and DPR to control and manage the vegetation and fire risk in these areas.

This project is exempt because it is maintenance of wildlife habitat areas. The burn will not impact any sensitive biological or cultural habitat. This project will improve the natural environment. These areas will also serve as fuel breaks this summer and decrease the fire potential around the Thermalito Forebay which is a popular public use area.
