Document Description
Owned and operated by the City of Sunnyvale, Storm Pump Station No. 1 pumps stormwater from 2 channels that drain from the south and meet at the station inlet; together, the channels collect runoff from a total of approximately 1,500 acres. Storm Pump Station No. 1 has a capacity of 238 cubic feet per second, and discharges into the east terminus of the Sunnyvale West Flood Protection Channel, an engineered channel under the jurisdiction of the Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD). The Sunnyvale West Flood Protection Channel discharges to Moffett Slough, which in turn empties into San Francisco Bay. The existing pump station was originally constructed in 1961 and has been rehabilitated multiple times. As it exists now, the station includes a below grade inlet structure and an above grade concrete masonry pump building housing 2 propane-fueled engine driven pumps ad one electric pump.
