Reasons for Exemption
The project is categorically exempt pursuant to CEQA Guidelines. The project provides no expansion of water treatment system capacity. The project includes (1) minor alterations to existing water treatment plant buildings, piping, electrical, and equipment; (2) reconstruction of portions of existing utility systems within the existing water treatment plant site, including relocation of existing electrical equipment within one building to a higher elevation within another building that is outside the 100-year floodplain; (3) conversion of an existing shed to house the relocated existing electrical equipment and new construction of a small filter (contact clarifier) to meet State drinking water treatment requirements; and (4) minor alterations to land including minor trenching and backfilling where the surface is restored.
