Document Description
The project includes construction of five self-cleaning, retractable fish screens at the waterside termini of five existing DWR-owned intake siphons located on Sherman Island and Twitchell Island in order o reduce potential entrainment of Delta Smelt and other fish species by agricultural diversions on state-owned lands. The project is expected to cause the permanent loss of 0.0014 acres of giant garter snake habitat. The project is also expected to result in the remporary loss of 1.192 acres of giant garter snake habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of giant garter snake which is designated as a threatened species under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of project implementation.
