The UCSB 2010 Long Range Development Plan has applied a "Open Space" land use designation to the project site.
Document Description
The project would restore and provide public access to the 136-acre North Campus Open Space, which includes the former Ocean Meadows Golf Course. The Project has been designed to restore and enhance wetland and associated upland habitats that are characteristics of the historic Devereux Slough ecosystem, and it is the overall intent of the Project to restore the tidal connection to the project site that was eliminated when the Ocean Meadows Golf Course was constructed. The Project is grant funded in collaboration with the State Coastal Conservancy, Trust for Public Land, Land Trust for Santa Barbara County, County of Santa Barbara, Caltrans, CA Dept. of Water Resources, CA Dept. Fish and Wildlife, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
