Document Description
The California Department of General Services (DGS) is issuing an easement to the University of Southern California (USC) for the installation of a fiber optic cable from Exposition Boulevard to the Coliseum. The proposed project would install two 4-inch conduits, one each to the Coliseum and to the California Science Center and associated park areas, for a fiber connection between USC's network infrastructure on Exposition Boulevard. The fiber would serve cellular distributed systems at the Coliseum, Science Center, Science Center parking structure and surrounding park areas, providing a safer envrionment where individuals are able to utilitze cell phones during events within the Park and the Coliseum, and in areas where cellular service previously could not reach (i.e. deep within the buildings). The fiber connection would also provide, at the State/Science Center's discretion, a connection to Los Nettos; an internet and voice service collaborative between USC, and a multitude of other higher-education and primary/K-12 schools and non-profit agencies, providing low-cost, high-speed connectivity to its constituents.
