Document Description
The proposed project involves construction of a Sludge Equalization Basin (EQB) at the Coastal Treatment Plant (CTP) in order to provide needed operational flexibility and reliability to meet treatment and recycled water goals. The EQB would extend sludge holding time and provide truck loading capability at the CTP by serving as the wet well for the new sludge export pump station and as emergency storage in the case of a pump or force main failure. The EQB is planned to be a circular reinforced concrete tank with a 41-foot outside diameter, a 22-foot inside wall height, and a height of 23.5 feet; the EQB would have a storage volume of 154,000 gallons. Associated facilities, including a masonry electrical building, sludge export pump, mixing/truck loading pump, and a ferric chloride pump, would also be constructed. The proposed project would not expand the existing capacity of the CTP.
