The State's wildlife conservation policy contains, among other things, an objective of providing sport hunting use of selected species where such use is consistent with sustainable wildlife populations. The project being considered is a proposal to modify the current hunting regulations as an element of bear management. The objective of the proposal are to maintain viable bear populations and to provide public sport hunting opportunities through regulated harvest.
