License 9853 (Application A022574) allows direct diversion of 3,900 gallons per day from the Mattole River. The approved petition changes the purpose of use, place of use, and dedicates the entire face value (1.0 AF) of the license to in stream flow. Permit 21401 (A032305) is issued for the diversion of up to 3.5 acre-feet per year for the same project covered by the license. This project is part of the Mattole River Tank and Forbearance Program, a comprehensive strategy to improve salmonid habitat by storing water diverted in wet winter months for summer use.
