Document Description
The project will replace an existing cracked overstressed 80 year old concrete water reservoir tank. A new steel reservoir tank will be constructed on the footprint of the existing tank to provide a safer and more reliable water supply to the campus. Because of its poor condition, the existing reservoir has not been used for 9 years. As a result, supplemental water has been supplied to the campus by other purveyors, such as the Metropolitan Water District (MWD). Replacement of the existing reservoir will reduce the University's dependence on, and annual cost of water supplied by the MWD and others. An added benefit of the project will be a greater volume of water available to the campus for fire protection.
