Document Description
This proposed project involves hydraulic dredging a small portion of the Martinez Marina to depths ranging from approximately -6 feet to -8 mean lower low water (MLLW), with an additional 2 feet over dredge allowance. The estimated maximum volume of dredge material is 24,100 cubic yards over a surface area of approximately 2.84 acres. Sediment would be removed with a cutterhead hydraulic suction dredge and conveyed via an 8- to 12-inch diameter pipe to the City of Martinez upland disposal ponds located southeast of the marina. The Project would result in permanent impacts to 0.08 acres of delta smelt (Hypomesus transpacifficus) habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of delta smelt and longfin smelt (Spirinchus thaleichthys), which are designated as an endangered and threatened species, respectively, under the California Endangered Species Act. The ITP referenced above as issued by DFG authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
