Notice of Exemption
Exempt Status
Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Section 15333(d)(1,4)
Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project includes a restoration component that will provide cover in currently barren riparian areas and improve plant diversity along the entire reach. Planting of native trees and shrubs will attract wildlife, improve water temperatures, and help stabilize banks in some areas. Bank stabilization and sediment removal will decrease sediment inputs to the Petaluma River. The project shall not adversely affect sensitive species, as none are known to occur on site and work will be conducted after bird nesting season (Biological Resources Evaluation, Prunuske Chatham, Inc., January 2007). No known hazardous materials sites exist nearby that would be disturbed by the project.
