The project is a proposal to remove emergent marsh vegetation and sediment buildup from Sims Agriculture Drainage Ditch to improve channel flow and provide flood protection for Simms Road and surrounding Bufferlands agriculture lands. Maintenance will be performed by excavating vegetation from one-half of the channel, while leaving the opposite half of the channel vegetation intact. Channel maintenance will be conducted on a 3-5 year schedule depending on vegetation and sediment accumulation. All channel maintenance will be conducted after May 1st and before October 1st to avoid the Giant Garter Snake inactive period.
