Document Description
On 9/5/02, County Department of Public Works road maintenance crews, in an effort to perform maintenance on a culvert inlet at Turri Road, placed fill materials below the ordinary high water mark and modified the channel of an unnamed tributary to the north branch of Los Osos Creek. The work involved filling a small area that had been subject to head cutting upstream from the culvert, undermining the adjacent cattle fence, and placing ungrouted rip-rap along the face of a steep cut-bank immediately down stream from the culvert. The culvert inlet area was also re-enforced with ungrouted rip-rap to prevent further head-cutting. The stream channel upstream from the culvert was graded for a distance of approximately 200 feet, resulting in cutting off a shallow meander.
