Document Description
The Vernalis water quality monitoring station will be a permanent shed type building built on 8 concrete-filled steel pilings. Water will be pumped from the river and automated instruments will conduct water quality analysis. Utilities will be accessed from a private community that is adjacent to the river. The Project will be used by multiple State and Federal agencies.

Reasons for Exemption
The purpose of the project is basic data collection. Minimal environmental impacts are associated with this project. In-channel pile driving will occur within established work windows to protect sensistive fish species. Pre-project surveys will be conducted for other potential sensitive species in the area. Ground disturbance consists only of pile driving and small utility trenches.
