Document Description
On April 27, 2006, the California State Coastal Conservancy authorized a grant of $371,800 to the Cachuma Conservation Release Board to improve fish passage on Quiote Creek by building a 70-foot bridge and removing Refugio Road from the creekbed at crossing #2. The project includes re-grading and restoring the stream channel to natural conditions. Removal of all nine Quiota Creek fish passage impediments was recommended in the Lower Santa Ynez River Fish Management Plan published in October 2000. An EIR/EIS was prepared and certified on November 22, 2004. Final design and permitting of the project is expected to be completed in November 2006, and construction is planned for the following dry season, beginning June 2007.
