Document Description
Project will refinish steel window frames (circa 1930) in the lower pool level of the Roman Pool building at Hearst San Simeon State Historic Monument. Chemical stripping will abate existing lead paint, rust will be removed, and window frames repainted to match historic grey color identified on similar archived window frames. Existing paint/finish is not historic. Glazing will be removed during stripping process and then replaced. Refinishing is needed to arrest rust and deterioration of windows.

This project addresses the repair of an historic resource, along with work specifically designed to support continued maintenance and preservation of the property. The proposed work will not cause a substantial adverse change in the significance of the resource and will be done in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, with Guidelines for Preserving, Rehabilitating, Restoring, and Reconstructing Historic Buildings (1995), Weeks and Grimmer.
