Document Description
The proposed project consists of constructing a soundwall on eastbound Route 51 in Sacramento County between the Elvas Underpass and the American River Bridge. Located in the project area is a residential neighborhood with measured sound levels exceeding standards. The backyards of this residential area are located adjacent to the state right of way. This project is included in the 1989 Retrofit Soundwall Program was originally listed as No. 48 on that list. The soundwall will have a length of 305 m and a height which will vary from 5 ft to 10 ft. The purpose of this project is to reduce noise levels to affected residences adjacent to the highway. The project will result in a 1 to 5 decibel reduction. The minimum number required for justification of a new sound wall is 5 decibels.
