Document Description
The proposal is to access both structures from the west side of I-5 off Sparks Road. The southbound structure has the worst scour with over 1.83 meters (6 feet) of exposed piling. A sand slurry mixture will be deposited within the large scour hole and topped with 1/2 ton of rock. The rocks would be placed in a fashion to re-create the stream channel at the same elevation and contour that existed prior to the scour.

Reasons for Exemption
A recent bridge inspection of the north and southbound structures identified scour at both bridges. The southbound structure has the worst scour with over 1.83 meters (6 feet) of exposed piling. If a major storm event occurs the structural integrity of the bridge would be compromised and may collapse. Caltrans needs to repair this damage ASAP. The California Department of Fish and Game, Army Corps of Engineers and Regional Water Quality Control Board have all been contacted.
