Document Description
Gene Autry Way serves as a major east/west arterial street in the City of Anaheim; a parallel link to Katella and Orangewood Avenues. It is classified as a "primary arterial" from Katella Avenue to Orangewood Avenue. Gene Autry Way currrently terminates just east of I-5. The proposed project includes construction of a new east/west, six-lane highway (three lanes in each direction) from Haster Street to a point 400 meters (1,300 feet) east of Haster Street. To accommodate the additional traffic from the new roadway, Haster Street would be widened and realigned from just south of Katella Avenue on the north to a point approximately 140 meters (460 feet) north of Orangewood Avenue on the south. There are nine alignment alternatives under consideration by the City of Anaheim. The proposed alternatives would require additional right-of-way and result in displacement of existing land uses including multi-family residential uses and mobile homes. In general, the project would improve access across the I-5 Freeway between the Anaheim Resort Area and Stadium Area.
