Document Description
The Santa Clara River Bridge is located on Interstate 5 partially within the City of Santa Clarita and partially within an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. The proposed project consists of a total replacement of the existing northbound and southbound structures with a single structure. Major degradation of the riverbed surrounding the Santa Clara River Bridge pilings has occured as a result of scour. The bridge also has indications of superstructure problems. The degrading riverbed at the bridge site and superstructure problems have seriously threatened the integrity of the entire structure. Total replacement of the existing structure is being considered in order to secure this vital interstate transportation system which connects northern and southern California.
