THE SOUTH SIDE URBAN RUNOFF DIVERSION SYSTEM WILL PREVENT URBAN RUNOFF FROM ENTERING THE SWEETWATER RESERVOIR, WHICH IS PART OF THE PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM. THE LOW FLOR INTERCEPTOR WILL DIVERT "FIRST FLUSH" FLOWS, WHICH ARE HIGH IN CONTAMINANTS, FROM THE SWEETWATER RIVER UPSTREAM OF THE RESERVOIR. FLOWS WILL BE DIVERTED TO THE DIVERSION POND AND LATER RELEASED DOWNSTREAM OF THE RESERVOIR.
